Heartwarming Small-Town Romances and Thrilling Mysteries

A TBR is a to-be-read pile of books. Mine is huge! I have at least ten physical books I bought this year alone and at least eight on my Kindle I bought while on sale. To top it off, I’ve recently joined a book club which will take time away from reducing my TBR pile unless they pick one in it.

Reading has always been part of my life. I come by it honestly because my grandfather was an avid reader and always encouraged us to be one too. As a child, I got in trouble for reading all day long. My parents would tell me to “Go outside and get some sunshine! Run. Play!” I would begrudgingly put my book down and follow their instructions. While I don’t read as much as I did then, I still love to read.

I read all kinds of books, both fiction and nonfiction. One TBR book is about the Civil War, and with our sibling trip coming up in September (we always visit Civil War sites), I need to get that one done in a hurry. The rest are mostly fiction. I’m getting away from romances into mystery and women’s fiction which is usually historical fiction which has always been a favorite. History can be much stranger than fiction.

I just renewed my library card and checked out a book about women during World War II. It’s research for a mystery book I have written but want to rewrite it as a historical fiction. Plans are to check out more books on the topic as the summer goes by. It adds more to the TBR list.

Whatever book I read, I post a review on Goodreads, at least, and Amazon if I can. Reviews are what makes authors’ books move in the rankings, and I’m happy to help them out. If you’re not familiar with Goodreads, check it out. It’s free, and you can keep a list of the books you read there. It’s come in handy a few times to see if I’ve read an author before. Request: Please post reviews of every book you read.

With the weather so hot, it’s a good time to enjoy a glass of iced tea in a cool place and read a book in any format. It’s cheap, it can take you to a happy place, and it’s good for the mind. Make your own TBR pile and enjoy!

And that from a child you have known the holy scriptures, which are able to make you wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. II Timothy 3:15-17
