Literature & Lattes 2025

Hubby and I spent last weekend in Sioux Falls at the Literature and Latte Book event and fair. Seeing so many writer friends and meeting new ones always leaves me encouraged and eager to keep going on my writing journey. We took a long, scenic drive home so Hubby could get as many geocaches as he could find. He gets a pat on the back for finding one in every county of a state. He’s almost completed South Dakota and plans to work more on Texas this winter.

It’s time for another sibling-trip adventure! We’re headed for Vicksburg, Chattanoga, and Chickamauga. The trip is earlier this year, and the temperatures may be hotter. I bought a neck air conditioner since I can’t handle heat too well. Everything worked out for all of us except one. One brother can’t go this year, so it won’t be the same without him. I will sorely miss my backseat partner. Last-minute appointments and issues come to all of us at one time or another, and we don’t always get to do what we want. It nearly happened to me as well, but I managed to get it all in under the wire. Aging is not for sissies.

After I get back, I have a table at the South Dakota Festival of Books. It’s an enormous celebration of authors, the author life, and history all blended together. I attended once before and loved it. The event is in Spearfish this year which provides me opportunities to see friends there as well. It should be a great time, and I’m looking forward to it.

I’m almost done with the second draft of my next book. My editor is scheduled to see it next month and that deadline is quickly approaching. No time to rest until it’s in her hands. This is very exciting!

After such a dark week, I wish you all joy and peace. Love one another, even if you don’t agree with their politics. Be kind and generous to those you meet because we’re judged by our actions.

Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace and pursue it. Psalms 34:14

But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and you shall be called the children of the Highest: for He is kind to the unthankful and to the evil. Luke 6:35
