By this time of year, Hubby and I are usually nestled in Texas, avoiding the snow and ice of South Dakota. This year is different. Our aging bodies decided to rebel this fall and drove us to schedule doctor appointments, physical therapy, and other remedies to fight off the aches and pains. We are finding this most inconvenient.
Getting old is hard enough, but having to rearrange travel plans because of medical issues only adds to the frustration. We used to get up and go whenever we wanted to. Now, it’s “check the calendar and see when that next appointment is scheduled to see if we can go”.
Being delayed, we’ve got to see the first snow fall in town. It’s not much and is already melted away, but watching it fall through the windows while wrapped in a blanket inside was nice. We expect a temperature of 70 degrees later week. The seesaw weather of fall still persists. Maybe the snow is a nudge to finish up our appointments and get going.
A friend living in the middle of the state predicts weather by using signs of nature. Because she had fog this morning, she says the middle of November will be “interesting”. I’m not sure if that means good or bad. I’ll have to let you know.
Our plans are to head south by December, but time and circumstances will determine that. If long range forecasts are true, winter will be much warmer there and more severe here. Again, time will determine that. We’re all subject to the effects of time and health. The best we can do is learn to adapt.
Whereas you know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away. For that you ought to say, if the Lord will, we shall live and do this or that. James 4:14-15
