Heartwarming Small-Town Romances and Thrilling Mysteries

In one week, I’ve gone from one extreme to another. Hubby and I joined both our children and grandsons in Washington state for a family weekend. We arrived in rain that continued for two days. A steady rain fell over a large area of the Pacific Northwest and left the streams and rivers trying to get out of their banks. Everything was green and lush. The temperatures were mild, requiring a sweater or raincoat when outside.

We had a great time. One of the days was all sunshine, and four of us went to explore the Olympic National Park with its mountains and streams, and coastline. Across the bay is Canada. The area is beautiful, and we wished we had more time to look around, but our son and grandsons were driving in from Oregon so our time was limited.

This weekend we’re back in very dry Texas where people are praying for rain. The temperatures are very high, with several record highs being broken. In South Dakota, two or three wildfires are burning through our beautiful Black Hills. No snow fell this winter and this spring, when we usually get a lot of moisture has been completely dry. People there are praying for rain too. Poor Nebraska has lost much to drought and wildfire.

During all of this, Hawaii is flooding homes away. Hawaii needs prayers for it to stop there. I’m wondering if the people who are praying for rain should be more specific about where they want it to rain. Let it stop in Hawaii and send it to the southwest and middle section of the country. When you pray tonight, include Hawaii’s flooding and the drought in the mid and southwest parts of our country. Maybe being more specific would help.

After a several days in damp, mossy, rainy Washington, it was a stark welcome back to Texas with its record-breaking heat and drought. Too bad everything can’t be share across in equal amounts, but that’s just not how the world works. We do the best we can with the conditions we’re given.
