Heartwarming Small-Town Romances and Thrilling Mysteries

I’m writing this a little bit in advance of the posting date. If all went as planned, I will be in Boise to attend the Idaho Writers Guild Conference in Boise. I’ve been a member of that fabulous organization for a while now, and I’ve really loved being a part of it. The members and the board are not only writers, but really nice people. A lot of them are my writer friends, and I can’t wait to see them.

I always enjoy going to writer conferences to rub elbows with people who get me. Just like me, they have strange search histories on their computers, along with files listing the most deadly, untraceable poisons perfect to use in murders. It has nothing to do with what we want in real life, just in our fictional lives and books. We’re all slightly strange and have instructions for our spouses and significant others on what files to delete when we die.

I also can’t wait to see my non-writer friends in Boise too. It makes the trip to Boise twice as nice.

After that, I’m playing shuttle driver for Hubby while he goes bicycling on several trails. That’s what he’s excited about doing. He’ll go with his cousin on trails in Washington, then will go solo on more trails in northern Idaho. While he’s riding, my Kindle is stocked up on books to be read. I’ll be reading a lot and writing in a journal. I have ideas for more short stories and books that I want to outline so I don’t forget them. This trip is a combination of us both getting to do what we love.

I’m also slated to attend the West Texas Writers Academy in June. I’m looking forward to attending it as I have every year since 2014. It’s where I learned how to write, plot, market, and a whole heap of other stuff. It differs from other conferences in that you take a week-long class in a particular topic. To get so in depth is a big advantage. Most of the time, I come out of it with another book plotted and ready for writing. This year for the first time, I’ll stay in the dorm with the other writers. That should be an interesting adventure. I’m looking forward to seeing all my writer friends there.

It’s a busy time of year, and I feel so blessed that we are able to do these things.

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow…Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” James 4:13-15
