Remember when John Lennon said, “Life is what happens when you’re busy making plans”?
Hubby and I made plans to be home this weekend. I’d reserved a table at a spring craft fair on Saturday, but life interfered. Other duties took precedence. I have no animosity about it. It just happened that way.
We will spend our weekend going back to Abilene to take care of a list of things before we head north and are out of reach to help with my parents. I want to do my part to help them while they are . . . as my dad puts it . . . interned in assisted living. My siblings live closer and do the bulk of watching over them so it’s my attempt to pay them back.
The weather in Texas has been so nice, and we’ve really enjoyed it. Temperatures are in the high 70s and 80s which is perfect for me. Funny how those who live here through the 100+ degree weather think that’s still cool. Good thing God made all kinds of places to live, and we can find a place that suits our temperature desires. Back home in South Dakota, they’ve experienced a record-breaking warm winter and had very little moisture. Fire season has already started and been rolling. I dread when the heat of summer will add to the intensity of wildfires. I hope it’s not a record year for them.
Our new plans include leaving a loaded truck in the garage, ready to go. The morning after we return from doing our parental chores, we’ll head out on the road headed north. I’m ready to get back to my house and my wonderful bed. Lord willing, that is. I’m almost afraid to speak lest our plans get interrupted again.
Winter Four been a weird time this year. We got here a month late. Hubby traveled a lot, and we spent time agonizing over parent issues. Being with our friends here is always a blessed thing, and we miss them a lot when we’re gone. Once again, we appreciate our children for lending us their house for the season. They plan to put it on the market so if anyone is looking for a nice house in Amarillo, I can direct them your way.
