Heartwarming Small-Town Romances and Thrilling Mysteries

I’ve been sick. I’m not sick that often so it’s really hard when I am. Most years the only time I visit the doctor is for my annual checkup. I’m very blessed in that way. I’ve always been very healthy, and I don’t take that for granted. Part of my daily prayer is saying thanks for good health. God has been good to me in that way.

That makes it hard when I don’t feel good enough to do anything but lay in bed. I’ve drunk so much hot honey-and-lemon water that I arrange my pillows in hexagons. I went to the doctor twice last week, but both times was sent home. Home, where my computer stares at me, begging me to work on it. I have to turn away. I don’t feel well enough to sit in front of it and work. Guilt at doing nothing makes staying in bed even harder.

What’s there to do while laying in bed? Here’s several things I found useful during this episode of sickness:

1. Watch TV. It’s a good time to binge watch a series or watch a series of movies.
2. Read a book. Books are a good way to escape from where you are and forget how bad you feel.
3. Sleep. Sometimes, it’s hard to sleep at night when you’re sick. Sleep whenever you can. Otherwise, go back to rules 1 and 2.
4. Wash hands often. Spare the rest of the family from getting sick. Wash your hands. Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze. Stay in your room.
5. Drink lots of fluids. Water, juice, or other concoctions can soothe the throat and flush bad things out of your body.
6. Be patient. You can’t rush getting well. Your body will heal as fast as it can, and pushing yourself to get on your feet too soon will only set it back. You’re not doing anyone any favors by rushing back to normal routines when you’re still sick. If you share your bugs, people won’t like you.

So there are my few suggestions that you can use if you are sick. Enjoy the time to do things you don’t usually do.

Most of all, take care of yourself so that you stay healthy.
