Heartwarming Small-Town Romances and Thrilling Mysteries

The last package has been mailed off. The tree is up. Gifts were given to our great neighbors. We’re back in Texas. I’m ready for Christmas. Almost….

The older I get, the less I like to cook. I haven’t planned any meals for the coming holiday when Daughter and Son-in-law will be here. I know they want to eat at our favorite Mexican food restaurant so that takes care of a meal or two. Whataburger and Chik-Fil-A might take of a couple of more. I’ll come up with something for the rest, but I’ll spend this week worrying about it.

I’d love to make lots of cookies and goodies, but some of us are dieting. How do I handle that? Fruits and veggies would work, I suppose, but that doesn’t seem holiday-ish. Sugar is a holiday tradition. I’ll compromise by making fewer desserts and fill in with healthier options like veggies and ranch dressing.

For me, being around sugar reminds me of the Borg on Star Trek TNG. Resistance is futile. It’s best for me to not get near it, but I will for the holidays and pray for willpower to not overdo it. Once the goodies are gone, that will be it until another holiday…like New Year’s Eve.

Here’s wishing you all a wonderful Christmas season. I hope you get to spend it with those you love and with food you love. Spread love and kindness like glitter everywhere you go.
