The last four days, I sat in the computer room connected to a vibrant community of women talking about writing topics. One of my favorite conferences, the Women In Publishing Summit is a virtual event. I enjoyed it all and learned a ton of new information, but I’m tired! Why is sitting in a chair from 8:30 am until 6 pm so tiring?
The unique thing about this virtual conference is the networking they have, where the several hundred participants are divided into small groups where we can video chat. I’ve attended the last three years so some of the women were familiar, but most were new. I talked with writers from Alaska to Florida, from California to Maine, and from Germany, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. Editors, cover designers, and small press owners of every genre were also included. Since we’re connected by a common thread, we had very interesting conversations. Writers are fascinating people.
All of the workshops were recorded so I can watch the ones I couldn’t attend later (multiple workshops were given at the same time). The trouble is, watching all those videos only makes my to-do list even longer. With the workshops I attended, I need to redo a lot of things and start doing others. It involves a lot of time, a lot of work, help from my tech support, reformatting books, updating back matter, setting up a direct sales network, and developing media and book club kits. That doesn’t include writing and editing the new books I hope to have out this year. Makes me more tired thinking about it.
I’ll get busy on all of it…tomorrow. I think I’ll take my church nap for the rest of today.
And whatsoever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men. Colossians 3:23
P.S. Thanks to Hubby for allowing me to hog the computer room for four days. He was very kind about it.
