Heartwarming Small-Town Romances and Thrilling Mysteries

Some people cannot function without planning all their time. I’m the opposite. I make plans, then whatever comes along, I follow that. I admit I’m easily distracted. I generally go with the flow. Now football season is beginning and I’m a big football fan. That takes up my weekends for a while.

At several writing conferences, the speakers said to take your writing career seriously (I do) and schedule your writing time, advertising time, social media time, etc. They display their elaborate schedules for every waking hour of their day. At the bottom, it usually has family time which is usually an hour or two. One speaker works 80 hours a week, releases several new books a month, and makes a six-figure income. I’m happy for her, but that’s not me. I take my writing time seriously, but I couldn’t stand living that regulated of a life. I love time with family and friends whenever I get it, planned or not. I’m not telling them no, they’re not on the schedule, they should have made an appointment. So not me.

But my point is, everyone has their way of doing things. It’s nice hearing from others in our fields of interest, but their definition of success doesn’t have to be mine. Their methods to reach success doesn’t mean I must do it the same way. Everyone has to find their own definitions of success and how to reach it. Mine? Live a quiet and peaceable life, doing what I want to do when I want to do it. I write as often as I can and hope my books please my readers. My success is measured by four figures, just enough for my books to pay off what it took to produce them.

My blessing is I don’t have to support myself off my book sales like the lady working 80 hours a week. It’s on my list of blessings. Do you have a list of blessings?

But we urge you, brethren, that you increase more and more; that you aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you, that you may walk properly toward those who are outside and that you may lack nothing. Thessalonians 4:10-12

    1. My dad got a football scholarship from Texas A&M which changed the course of his life. He passed on his love of the game to us kids. We’re all football fans. CS

  2. My Blessing list is my family. Lord willing Gary and I will celebrate our 63 Anniversary
On the 26th. He has been battling cancer for 3 years and is in remission again. We have great neighbors that bring us meals, take us to the doctors app. Pick up brush, bring us baked goodies ect.
We are Blessed with our grandchildren and our 4 great grandchildren.
We have a wonderful church family that continually take care of us. They tell how much they love us and miss us as we have missed so many services.
I don’t make many lists anymore. If I want to put something off until tomorrow it does not matter. I may not be here tomorrow.
Gary and I decided when he got Merkel Cell Carcinoma we would live just one day at a time. When the doctor tells you that what you have is not curable you get a new look at your lives. We don’t think about life or death. We just go about our days as we normally would.
We love to watch football too. My favorite sport. #24 on Norte Dame is a local boy from Denison so now we watch them. It is fun to watch local kids play.
I read, I embroidery and sometimes I do nothing.
Keep up your writing when you want to. I enjoy your books.

    1. I’m so sorry to hear about Gary. I’ll include him in my prayers.
We’re Texas A&M Aggie fans due to Daughter going to school there. I’ll always be a huge fan of the band. CS
