I admit it. I’m old. I remember the old cartoons, comic books, and TV shows talking about futuristic stuff in the 21st century. It seemed impossibly far away. But here it is, 2025. It sounds like something from a book rather than being on the calendar.
We enjoyed a quiet Christmas with Daughter and Son-in-law at their house where we’re living for the winter. Their tradition is to watch Star War movies on Christmas day which we did. I made homemade pizza for lunch, and we snacked throughout the day making it the perfect day. Family, food, movies.
We accompanied our kids to Catoosa, Oklahoma where Son-in-law spoke at a church meeting. Being a teacher, he’s a good, well-practiced speaker, and we enjoyed all his sermons. While there, Hubby and I visited with a writer friend and her husband who has Parkinson’s. It was such a delight to be with them and visit again for a while. She and I did a little plotting for which I’m very grateful to her. She let me bounce ideas off her and she came up with unique ideas. She was the breath of fresh air I needed to kick start my writing project.
We spent New Year’s Eve talking with old friends and eating. Old friends are the best conversationalists because we share history and are often at a common spot in life. It was delightful! We left early and were in bed by the time the clock struck midnight. A long drive awaited us the next day and we wanted to leave early. We should have set an alarm because we left later than expected but enjoyed the scenery on the way home.
My only resolution for the year is to keep writing. I want to finish the first draft of my book Walking on Water by summer and move to the editing stage. My word for the year is perseverance. I’ve thought of chucking the idea of writing and instead, save all the money I’m spending on ads, editing, marketing, etc. to spend on something better. But then someone says they really enjoyed my book and can’t wait for the next one. That motivates me to keep going. My deepest thanks to my readers who encourage me and keep me on track.
