Heartwarming Small-Town Romances and Thrilling Mysteries

Hubby and I have new deck furniture that I use mostly in the cool evenings. This time of year, the temperatures are mild, and the wind doesn’t blow much after sundown. Watching the stars come out and listening to the bird songs is relaxing and comforting to me. I like to think. I like the thoughts I have, although some of them make me worry more. Most of the time, it’s calming.

The other night, an owl nearby was hooting at me. I’d say a few words, and he’d hoot back as if in response. We talked a little, but he had more to say than I did. He listened to me say my prayers and added a few himself. It was a lovely evening.

I like to be alone with my thoughts without a lot of stimulation around me. None of our neighbors are out on their decks at night, so I have the place to myself. The street noise down below isn’t too bad unless law enforcement strikes up their sirens and add red and blue lights to the scene. It’s a great place to end the day and a great place to read my Kindle.

Does anyone else like being alone with their thoughts? Do other people think? Seems like if most people have things stuck in their ears most of the time, and I wonder if they know how to sit and think. It’s easy to do. Unplug and let your brain exercise. Think about what you’ve done or plan to do. Think about family, friends, and loved ones. Think about precious memories. You might learn you have a lot to think about.

Whatever the case may be, take the time to sit and think. Maybe an owl will visit you and have a conversation.
