Heartwarming Small-Town Romances and Thrilling Mysteries

This past week seemed like a month long. Dealing with aging parents is never fun but moving them into a care facility is harder, especially when one of them doesn’t want to go. I don’t like feeling like the villain in a story, but I did this week; however, I also know it’s what’s best for them. That thought doesn’t stop the grief and tears that go with watching your parents go downhill. They seem to be picking up speed which is why the time came to have a 24-hour watch over them and to see that they’re fed and kept safe. Medical care is close by (their house in the boonies was at least an hour or more from the hospital). The residents are very nice and the staff very sweet and helpful. It’s a good place for them to be. I wouldn’t mind a place like that when my time comes.

On our last night in a hotel, after dealing with logistics, reluctant parents, and emotional distress, I checked my e-mail to get my mind off things. In the midst of the many unread messages was one that caught my eye. The announcement of the winners in the American Legacy Book Awards. Since I hadn’t heard from them previously, I thought I’d check out who had beaten me out this year. I was very surprised to find I was one of the winners! That little pinch of happiness brightened my low spirits. I’m proud to have written an award-winning book which makes me an award-winning author. I’ve achieved a goal. Read the book. I think you’ll like it. They did.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God. Phillipians 4:6
