Heartwarming Small-Town Romances and Thrilling Mysteries

I did it. Just like I said I would in last week‘s blog. I started my journal of good things that happened to me this week. I hope you got yours started as well.

One of the things I’m thankful for is Me Time, also known as Alone Time. Me Time is quiet and peaceful, and I am in control. I love having the freedom to do what I want to do, when I want to do it, how I want to do it. The house is much neater when it’s just me in it. I only have to cook for me. If I want cereal all day, then I have cereal all day. If I want to sleep in until 9 am, no one calls me a sleepy head when I get up. If I want to stay up until 1 a.m. watching an old movie, no one asks me how late I’m staying up. I’m in control of the TV remote. Give me old shows, old movies, and football. No news or news analyses allowed; just stuff that might make me laugh.

I mostly use Me Time to write without disruption. Yesterday I rewrote stuff I’d already written, filled a few plot holes, and added nearly 2000 words to my next book. I took a long lunch and had a nap, then got back to work. I’ve given myself a deadline on finishing this next book. It has to be done by May so I can pitch it to agents. Right now, I’m about two-thirds done on the first draft. Considering I usually go through it three or four times, I need lots of time to get all the editing done. Me Time will help me meet my deadline.

My parents can’t understand why I love being alone. They worry about me even though I tell them I’m very happy being alone. They beg me to come stay with them so I don’t get lonely, but I am very defensive about this precious time. I’m not lonely at all, but if I get lonely, I’d call a friend or go shopping. That rarely happens. There may be lots of people who don’t understand why I enjoy being with just myself. Maybe I’m weird that way, part hermit or something. Weird or not, I love Me Time.

Before anyone gets any crazy ideas, I love when Hubby is around especially in the evenings. I don’t know how other couples do it, but we give each other time to enjoy our different interests. Always have and it works well for us. I think Hubby likes his Me Time too.

I’ve started being thankful on paper this new year. I hope you are too. Start that list now so you don’t get too far behind.

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him… Colossians 3:17
